Isn’t she lovely? The Duchess of Cambridge made another official appearance today in London, wearing Jenny Packham to the ARK Gala at Kensington Palace. KP is where Prince William grew up, and where William and Kate are planning to move themselves. Reportedly, Kate has her eye on Princess Margaret‘s old apartments, which are currently being renovated.
Parts of Kensington Palace are open to the public, so when I was there in June, I visited the Enchanted Palace exhibit, which was incredibly cool and a must-see. It whimsically tells the tale of various Princesses who have lived at Kensington Palace, including a young Queen Victoria, Queen Anne, the tragic 19th century Princess Charlotte, Princess Margaret (so fascinating), and, of course, Princess Diana.
Once William and Kate move in, their neighbors at KP will include the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke and Duchess of Kent, and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. (Princess Michael, born Marie-Christine von Reibnitz, is famously known as Princess Pushy.) To be a fly on those walls.
Meanwhile, in Pippa Middleton news, the press is still obsessed with her. She hangs out with her ex-boyfriend (and now boss) George Percy, the future Duke of Northumberland, a lot. And she went to tennis at the Queen’s Club in London today to watch Andy Roddick take on Kevin Anderson.
I’m of two minds when it comes to Pippa. On the one hand, she seems like a hell of a lot of fun, and she looks fabulous in clothes. On the other, the current interest in her seems totally press-driven to me — am I wrong? Do you genuinely care what’s going with with the Pip? (Also, I want to scrub the orange tan off her and slather her in antioxidants. Wear some sunscreen, babe!)
At the end of the day, when it comes to the Middleton sisters, I must confess, my heart (and beauty-envy) will always be with Kate. Still, Pippa makes a great sideshow.
