Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette Review

I like dramatic, smokey eyes, so neutral makeup palettes aren’t normally my thing.

Ever since getting back from South Africa, however, I’ve been all over this Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette, featuring six highly wearable eyeshadow basics. My South Africa companion T. used to work for Urban and is a makeup queen–she puts me to shame–so our travel bathrooms looked like a Sephora had exploded.

The six shades in the Naked Basics palette range from Venus, a light, off-white, to Crave, a gorgeous charcoal black that creates the best smokey eyes. Four of the shades are brand-new and all the shades are matte, which I really dig: for some reason, shimmery shadow looks weird on me. I simply find it harsh looking.

The lightest three shades are just a tad too neutral for my tastes, but I suspect for most people they’d be perfect. Me? I’m all over the three darkest shades, especially Faint, a dark-brown with a warm undertone, and the aforementioned, wonderful, inky, so sexy Crave.

It’s a great palette bound to be a staple in your makeup arsenal!

  1. I don’t think I have used anything else since receiving this! If there is one thing I can add, it is that basic does not mean boring and you can play with these shades!
