Hello from Arizona! I’m in Scottsdale for a spa weekend, checking out resorts like The Boulders, Montelucia, Sanctuary at Camelback Mountain and Talking Stick. (It’s a tough life, I know.) Scottsdale is only an hour flight from LA–and a cheap one, at that, if you’re flying Southwest, where you can find fares as low as $120 round-trip–so I’ve been meaning to make the trip for years to see my brother and several friends who live here, but it’s only now in the middle of my go-go-go month of travel that I decided to slot it in. (Back to back to back to back weekend trips? Hey, why not?)
Yesterday, my friend Melanie and I spent the afternoon at The Boulders, a beautiful hideaway in a town called Carefree which features a 33,000-square-foot Waldorf Astoria Spa and is surrounded by 12-million-year-old granite boulders. The Boulders holds a special place in my heart, because it’s where I visited a week after I started my blog in March 2005. I was there on a press trip with Dove for the launch of their Campaign for Real Beauty, and I remember writing in one of the casitas (there are 160 guest casitas and 60 villas on property) while listening to the then-new Weezer album, and thinking that my life was pretty damn awesome.
Eight years later, I never could have imagine the path I’d have taken!
Yesterday, I had an 80 minute Turquoise Wrap treatment (the signature treatment at The Boulders) and I’m off now to check into Montelucia, so more to come soon from my experiences in Scottsdale, the resorts, the spa and beauty treatments (and wrap-ups still to come from my Vegas trip last weekend!)
