I consider myself lucky that E. and I have the same taste in fragrances, because is there anything worse than your significant other loving a scent that makes you gag? (Well, yes, of course, there are worse things, but this is a beauty blog, so moving on…) E. and I are basically fragrance soul mates, so we both gravitate toward spicy, musky, sexy scents with notes like vanilla, musk, leather, sandalwood, you get the idea.
When I read the perfume brief for Viktor and Rolf Spicebomb, I knew we’d be in good hands. After all, just the name implies an explosion of yumminess. And, indeed, it’s a grenade of sexy: top notes of bergamot and grapefruit, a little bit of cinnamon, pink pepper and chili in the middle, and base notes including vetiver, balsam fir, tobacco, and white leather.
If you like light, floral, fruity or oceany, you can move right along. There’s nothing to see here.
But if your idea of a (fragrant) good time involves curling up by a roaring fire with a hot toddy, cinnamon and leather and mahogany perfuming the air, Spicebomb is your jam all night long.[I can neither confirm nor deny that I spritzed it on myself while writing this post, and now cannot stop sniffing my arm like a damn bloodhound. It’s so good.]
